Welcome to my best documentary wedding photography 2024! Oh, but wait my best candid wedding photography moments of 2025 has just arrived – you might want to check that out too!
True to my ethos of ‘weddings aren’t about pretty photos all day’, I’m only going to show all the wonderful un-staged moments. So don’t expect to see any posing here.
I love to show couples moments they didn’t expect to see, which will surprise them and make them laugh when they receive their gallery from me. My quirky observations help couples see a broader view of their wedding day, and that’s one of the biggest reasons why they booked me.
That’s because they understand that weddings are so much bigger than the bride and groom; they’re a crazy mix of everything great in life – friends, family, food, love and laughter, to name a few.
My wedding photos aim to reflect this authentically.
How do I do it?
I’m completely hands-off as a Nottingham wedding photographer. I want my couples and their guests to crack on with their day without interruption and without being bossed or told to look at the camera. Couples forget I’m there after 5 minutes, and my powers of invisibility arrive.
Finally, I wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to all my couples. Thank you for placing your faith in me and for having me witness your amazing celebrations!
Thanks to all the wonderful venues and suppliers I’ve worked with this year, too. I can’t mention everyone here but a few special thanks go to Ella from Old Bricks and Blossom and Lauren from the Walled Garden and kellyanneweddings for putting together one of the busiest weddings of the year.
Enjoy, cheers Nathan.

Venues I’ve photographed
As a Nottingham wedding photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of working at loads of fabulous venues this year. As well as returning to some of my favourites like the Walled Garden, Holme Pierrepont Hall, and the Woodlands at Hothorpe Hall I’ve also explored new venues like Molecey Mill, Hodsock Priory, Beaumont Hall and the West Mill, which is always ace. I’ve loved shooting ceremonies in every setting, from churches to marquees and outdoor weddings. I’ve also photographed weddings in Leicestershire.
Education
Growing in my craft is something I invest in to keep pushing myself to be one of the best documentary wedding photographers in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. In light of that, I attended DocDay, an international conference in Ireland, and a day of talks in London hosted by the Nine Dots photography group.
I also ran two more documentary wedding photography workshops so that I could help aspiring and established photographers develop the art of taking quirky photos on the fly and staying creative all day. I now also provide wedding photography education in the form of mentoring.
