“We love having our photo taken,” said no one ever.
Most of my couples tell me they feel awkward in front of the camera. Perfect. You don’t need to know what to do with your hands, fake a laugh, or spend half your wedding day posing in a field. Cringe.
My approach is hands-off and documentary. I quietly photograph what is already happening – the hugs, the nerves, the chaos, the laughter, the dance floor, the proud parents and the mates who take things too far.
You’ll still get relaxed family photos and natural portraits if you want them. Most couples value this, but they won’t take over your day.
Your wedding should feel like a wedding, not a photoshoot.
Three things you’ll never hear me say at your wedding
There are plenty of photographers who will direct, pose and choreograph your wedding day.
That’s not me.
If you book me, you won’t hear:
- “Can you look at the camera for a second?”
- “Can you try this pose?”
- “Can you do that again so I can capture it?”
Your wedding only happens once. I don’t want to interrupt it, repeat it, or make it feel weird.
I’ll be there in the middle of it all, quietly photographing what’s actually happening while you get on with having the best day with your favourite people.

Candid wedding photography in Nottingham and across the UK
As a Nottingham wedding photographer, my job is to capture the parts of the day you actually care about.
No ‘arty’ photos of shoes – or worse, flatlays. No two hours of posing and no asking you to look at the camera and smile.
I’m looking for the real stuff: your people laughing, crying, hugging, dancing, drinking, misbehaving, and being completely themselves.
This style of shooting is often called candid wedding photography, documentary wedding photography or reportage wedding photography. I just think of it as photographing the day properly – without interrupting it.

I’m based in Nottingham and photograph weddings all over Nottinghamshire, the East Midlands and the rest of the UK.
Over the years, I’ve photographed weddings in churches, barns, gardens, tipis, marquees, stately homes, village halls, cricket grounds and back gardens full of brilliant people.
I’ve worked at Nottinghamshire wedding venues including Langar Hall, Norwood Park, Southwell Minster, Trent Bridge, Pippley Walled Garden, Carriage Hall and The Pumping House in Ollerton, as well as plenty of relaxed countryside venues across Newark and Sherwood.
But the venue is only the backdrop.
