AWARD WINNING WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER.
‘Award-winning photographer’, what’s that all about?
Maybe they’re just for vanity’s sake so that other photographers can high-five them….
What matters most to you is not how many awards they’ve won but how much you love their style and whether you think they’d be a good fit for your wedding right?
Three reasons why wedding photography awards matter
Awards show that your photographer can demonstrate quality and consistency in their creativity so that you can be confident that your wedding photos are going to be original and truly epic!
-
Confidence
You can be confident that your wedding photography is going to be top quality! And that’s great because my couples want unique images.
-
Hard work
Some wedding photography awards are just so difficult to win– only a tiny percentage of entries are judged to be award-worthy. So when couples hire an award-winning photographer, they know that they’ll be working very hard to get the best pictures.
-
Quality
You want to make a sound choice when it comes to having someone document one of the most amazing days of your life. You could choose someone cheaper but I’m sure you’d rather have an award-winning creative talent. Being an award-winning photographer is like having a certificate of quality and it helps drive me to give my all at every wedding.
This is Reportage – Top 10 Photographers in the World 2024
This is Reportage (TiR) showcase the best documentary wedding photography in the world. No staging, no posing, just pure in-the-moment photography. It fits perfectly with my ethos as a photographer.
To win a single award is hard (understatement). There are 6 rounds of competition annually, each receiving over 10,000 entries, and the judges only award 2-3% of images.
In 2024 I earned a place in their Top 10 wedding photographers worldwide by winning 9 awards!
As well as finishing in the Top 10 Photographers Worldwide, I placed:
🇬🇧 Top 10 UK (second year in a row)
📚 Top 10 Storytellers Worldwide (second year in a row)
STORY AWARDS
A unique aspect of TiR is Story Awards – a series of 15-20 photos from the same wedding, judged as a whole.
To win, the images must be consistently strong throughout the wedding day and the narrative must flow. That means, as a photographer, you have to be on top of your game creatively all day. I won my first story award in 2022, and since then I have won 8 awards! (I’ve put them all below).
In 2023 and 2024 I was honoured to be named in the Top 10 Storytellers in the world.
This series of award-winning photos was taken at Stanford Hall. I’ve also won Story Awards at the following venues: Best Wedding Photos Langar Hall, Best Wedding Photos Foxtail Barns, Best Wedding Photos Carriage Hall, Drycott Fields and Marquee Weddings.

Don’t listen to the naysayers!
Some photographers are like ‘Oh those awards they’re rigged, you just pay your membership and you’ll get one eventually’.
That couldn’t be further from the truth.
- You have to apply for membership
Photography associations don’t let just any photographer in so that they can take their subscription money. The quality of the work they share is vital to their reputation within the industry. That’s why they vet everyone to make sure they are a good fit before allowing any of them to become a member. - Not everyone that enters gains an award, it’s a competition!
Some competitions have tens of thousands of entries per round, submitted by photographers from all around the world. Only a tiny proportion of entries (top 2-4%) are judged worthy of an award. You have to be the best of the best to stand out. Entries are often judged by world-class photographers too, so they know what makes a great photo!

Nathan is one of a kind. We could not recommend him enough to anyone wanting relaxed, non staged photos.
Charlie + Tom
HELLO! I’m Nathan
I’m a Nottingham wedding photographer, husband, dad of four and professional spotter of ridiculous moments.
I photograph weddings for couples who care more about their people than perfect posing. The ones who want to remember how the day felt, not just what it looked like.
My approach is relaxed, observant and hands-off. I’ll blend in with your guests, follow the energy of the day and look for the moments that tell the real story.
