What do you do when planning your wedding loses its fun?
You’re planning one of the greatest days of your life, it should be fun right? But there are times when it just drags a little and you start to lose inspiration and excitement. When you’re constantly making decisions and trying to smash a seemingly endless to-do list it can feel a bit ‘urghh!’.
If you want to get your wedding planning mojo back here are 5 tips for making your wedding planning fun again!
1) Delegate all the boring stuff to your minions
Don’t be a bridezilla control freak! Get your family and friends (AKA Minions) to take some of the load.
Look at your to-do list and see what areas you could delegate to others. This will liberate you to focus your energy on the fun parts of wedding planning – the creative side that you LOVE!
EXAMPLES
• Ask your Dad to research your wedding insurance options
• Have your bridesmaids send all the save the dates and invitations and organise their dress shopping
• Allow your Mum to find florists and arrange appointments for you to meet them
• Get someone to do a bulk order for all your décor items on your list
All these things will save you HOURS sitting on your phone or laptop doing ‘wedmin’.
2) Ditch the decor details if they’re a source of stress
You’re planning a relaxed wedding because you care more about people rather than props.
As much as your guests may enjoy some of your personal touches, it’s not going to be the thing they remember most from your day.
Plus, you and your guests might not even notice all those personal touches that you’ve spent hours pouring over because they’ll be doing too much partying!
When the details stop being a source of joy, maybe it’s time to let them go?
3) Celebrate each milestone
Turn each big decision or accomplishment into a mini celebration. Found your dream wedding dress? (link to dress article) Crack open the Prosecco. Nailed your guest list? Go out for dinner (Link Relaxed wedding).
By having something to look forward to after completing each task, wedding planning will feel fun again!
4) Plan a regular date night
When you’re so wrapped up in ‘wedmin’, it can be very easy to slip into the habit not spending quality time together.
Save one night in the week where you do anything BUT talk about wedding planning. Put a regular date in your diary today and stick to it. Do something fun together in that time. Your relationship will thank you for it and you won’t feel so burnt out planning all the time.
5) Book your wedding photographer
Before booking your wedding photographer you would have spent time describing your wedding plans to them as you help them to imagine your Big Day and what’s most important to you.
After this, you won’t be able to help but feel excited about your wedding (so many of my couples have told me this)!
Plus, booking your wedding photographer is a HUGE thing to tick off your to do list, so like in tip three, it’s time crack open the Prosecco!
I hope these tips help you to make your wedding planning more fun!
