I made This is Reportage’s Top 10 Best Documentary Wedding Photographers in the World!
For the second year in a row.
This is Reportage (TiR) showcase of the world’s best candid wedding photography. It’s one of the most difficult competitions to win a single award from, as so few images are actually awarded each round. Only the top 1-3% of all images submitted are awarded by a panel of 5 judges each round.
Over the year, there were 6 rounds of competition, and I scooped 7 awards!
- 4 individual captures
- 3 story awards (for a series of images from the same wedding)
TiR’s ethos is ‘nothing staged, nothing posed’ and it aligns perfectly with my own.
I believe that wedding photography is not about following a script or shot list, checking boxes of ‘expected’ photos, where everything looks fairly tale perfect.
There’s a beauty in the unscripted moments that can’t be beaten.
My couples don’t just want to remember what their wedding day looked like, but what it felt like too.
That’s why, over the last five years, I’ve been honing my approach to shooting weddings to be completely hands-off. What that means for you and your guest is that at no point will you hear me chip in to give directions.

This one is my favourite photo of 2025! I love the comedic juxtaposition between the speaker and the disengaged child. It’s photos like this that I live for as a wedding photographer, because I know that when my couples see it, they will crack up with laughter – it was completely off their radar.

Garden games are something that I love photographing at every wedding. But they can be a challenge. It’s easy to shoot people interacting with games in isolation, but here I wanted to incorporate the bride into a wider scene to create a frame with a good bit of storytelling – by having the bride in the scene, it gives context to the action.

Bride’s Nan is a legend! This hilarious confetti shot was photographed at a Pumping House wedding in Nottinghamshire.
The bride told me during our pre-wedding call that her Nan is a bit of a character, so I paid extra close attention to her during the confetti run!
I was very happy that this one won an award from This is Reportage. I had been entering it on and off for a couple of years! It had won awards in every competition (Master of Wedding Photography, Wedding Photojournalist Association, Fearless Photographers, Inspiration Photographers, Photographers Keeping it Real), but it had eluded TiR until now.
ABOUT STORY AWARDS
They are the most difficult awards to win in the wedding industry! Story Awards are a series of 15-20 photos taken at the same wedding, and the collection is judged as a whole. To win, every frame has to be consistently brilliant. It’s a real test of a photographer’s keen sense of observation and creativity to produce a series of standout images from across an entire wedding day.
