This beautiful summer wedding at Carriage Hall, Nottinghamshire was a stunning day of both love and emotion in equal measure.

For most people family is everything, especially when it comes to their wedding day and this one was no exception. Sadly, for the bride, Emily, one of her most precious family members, her mum, had passed away before her big day, so it was so important for me to capture the essence of the huge void she had left and the new happy memories of this beautiful family and this couple’s beautiful day.

The love that this couple had for each other was infectious as was Emily’s beaming ear-to-ear smile. It was one of those weddings where you could feel the happiness in the room. That might sound odd, but don’t get me wrong weddings are joyful occasions, however, this Carriage Hall wedding had a mega-happy vibe about it that isn’t present at every wedding and it was something I just had to capture perfectly through their photography.

Carriage Hall was the perfect place for Sam and Emily’s wedding, which was a mixture of black tie luxe in their choice of venue and styling, and laid-back summer vibes with their colour splashes and stunning outdoor photography. Carriage Hall is all about luxury. With rural views and an idyllic setting, it’s a little hidden gem that’s perfect for an intimate wedding day or a grand soiree. It easily lends itself to a variety of different vibes in its historic Victorian building, and although I have a lot, it’s one of my favourite alternative Nottingham wedding venues.

Emily was a picture of elegance in a simple sheath gown with touches of lace cascading down the sides. Her look was finished with natural makeup, a classic up-do and a simple veil. The groom and groomsmen wore classic black suits and matching bow ties, with splashes of colour in their buttonholes that matched the more vibrant dresses of the bridesmaids.

  • Capturing Emily chomping on a canapé
  • Copious amounts of tears during the ceremony and speeches
  • Catching the last of the summer sun for quiet and tender moments during our couples session
  • Getting to watch a little bit of the Wimbledon final with one of their guests while I was having some food 🙂

Dating back to 1895, the historical Carriage Hall is located at Plumtree’s old railway station which is just 15 minutes away from Nottingham city centre. This unique wedding venue boasts Victorian character and provides a beautiful setting for wedding celebrations.
