Photos of your closest family
The people that you surround yourself with during bridal prep are going to be those that are closest to you. Bridal prep is a great opportunity for you to have an emotional set of photos of those people.
Your wedding day is going to be a whirlwind of activity, so much so that outside of bridal prep you might find yourself spending less time than you think with your closest bunch as you might expect. Outside of bridal prep or group photos, it’s rare to find a bride having a moment with Mum or Dad – this is based on my obversions with shooting close to 100 weddings.
You will feel more at ease for the rest of the day
Chances are we’ve only ever ‘met’ on a video call. There’s nothing like being able to say hello in person to you and your family early in the day. It will quickly put you all at ease because you’ll see exactly how I work and this sets expectations for your day.
You’ll see how inobtrusive I am. I won’t be asking you to pose, repeat anything, move into ‘better’ light or worse, or start moving things around. I just want you to get on with enjoying your day. After about 5 mins you really won’t even know I’m there – this might sound odd but this is the feedback I hear from my couples all the time like in this 5-star Google review
You’ll realise that you with a safe pair of hands and won’t be worrying about feeling awkward at any point being around a camera. (I’m not the sort of photographer that’s doing to take photos of you with half your face done, I use the time for storytelling and looking for emotion and composition).
You’ll have more emotionally impactful photos throughout your day
Bridal prep is a great way for me to get to know your family dynamics a little better. This helps me throughout your wedding day to better anticipate emotional moments, which in turn will give you more impactful photos.
I will discover who the more expressive or affectionate types in your family are so that, when it comes to photographing your ceremony or speeches, I can be extra aware of who is most likely to react to your vows or kind words in an emotional way. This helps me to shoot how your wedding ‘felt’.
Without investing a small amount of time in bridal prep, anticipating moments that would be meaningful for you to look back on more is more open to chance observation.
