I wanted to try a different approach to blogging this wedding at the Walled Garden at Beeston Fields.
Instead of filling the page with loads of images that you’ll scroll past in a rapid daze, only noticing the ones that speak to you- I’ve decided to curate my work more.
Ok, I’m going to imagine that I have a single roll of film (that’s 36 frames at a professional 35mm roll) and I’m going to tell this wedding story with just 36 frames. After all, wedding photography is all about story telling. This a real challenge for me because there are literally SO many gorgeous and cool shots to be taken at weddings, it’s unreal!
Capturing candid shots of important family members is a vital part of documentary wedding photography, but reams of them don’t make for interesting viewing. I want to try and use this space to show you more concisely what it is that my style is about and what you can expect on your wedding day!
Charlie and Jane’s Walled Garden Wedding here we go!
I LOVED that this wedding had a real home-spun feel. You just can’t beat a bit of family history. It’s times like this that make documenting weddings all the more special.
Jane got ready to grace the aisle in her Grandmother’s home, the same home that her mother got ready for her wedding in. Also, there was more history to be had in holding the wedding ceremony at Nottingham Cathedral too- it was the same place that her mother got married!
You see the amazing hanging roses? The Groom made them to adorn the ceiling of the walled garden’s marquee. How many Grooms go to that much effort? (Brides, you know what I’m talking about- haha). A lot of Charlie’s family came to join the celebrations from Uganda. One of the most touching shots of the day was of Charlie’s father watching his son- it’s all in the eyes.
I always LOVE hanging out with the Groomsmen. I usually say something along the the lines of, ‘rough him up’ and I never know what’s about the unfold! This Groomsmen session also introduced me to the ‘Eagle’. Yes, what on earth is that right? Well, see if you can spot it!
The evening light was amazing! We ventured just outside of the grounds of the Walled Garden Beeston Fields to have loads of fun creating the couple’s portraits during ‘golden hour’ before heading to the dance floor.
