What makes Molecey Mill an Epic Place to Photograph
Photographing weddings at Molecey Mill is an adventure, it’s an unforgettable experience, it might be why the venue is called ‘Mr Molecey’s Marvellous Mill’.
As a Nottingham-based wedding photographer who has shot over 120 weddings, in the Nottinghamshire Derbyshire and Leicestershire area can say that Molecey Mill is one of the best wedding venues I’ve photographed.
Set in the Deepings, Lincolnshire, Molecey Mill is a wedding venue like no other. The word ‘wedding venue’ is a bit of a misnomer, it’s more like a wedding village because you and your guests will be taken on a journey through your wedding day.
From welcome drinks on the lawn to the ceremony in the stables, to reception games on Swan Island, to the wedding breakfast in Owl Island, and finally glamping in the Paddock, Molecey Mill provides so many different locations and backdrops to provide visually varied wedding photography.
At Molecey Mill, couples get exclusive use of the 20-acre estate for a couple of days to craft their wedding exactly as they dream it. It’s perfect for festival vibe-type weddings or for those who don’t want a package ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ wedding because they want something unique.
It might seem overwhelming to book such a blank canvas of a wedding venue but Graham and Glen at the Molecey Mill will help you to realise your vision so that the whole venue can be dressed to your theme. They are just as ambitious as you when it comes to making your plans a reality and they are full of ideas and very supportive.

Wedding Ceremony at Molecey Mill
Wedding ceremonies at Molecey Mill can take place on-site under the beautifully crafted open-plan oak framed stable which opens onto a view of the main lawn. Or, you can choose to have your wedding ceremony at the historic local church of St Andrews in West Deeping, situated beside a lovely mill pond.
Emma and Del chose the stables to say their vows. They got legally married the day before so they could make their ceremony very personal- Del’s Dad conducted the service.
Reception at Owl Island and Swan Island
After the ceremony, guests can take a short walk to Swan Island where they can have drinks and nibbles on the lawn in front of the mill.
Emma and Del’s reception at Molecey Mill was WILD, to say the least. They not only had confetti but they did it with smoke bombs at the same time and then to top it off, they rode on the front of a car holding smoke bombs to make their entrance to Owl Island for the wedding breakfast.
Owl Island is my favourite part of the venue, it is a hidden lawn where a stretch marquee or tipi can be erected. Emma and Del opted for a marquee and an outdoor bar. Emma and Del’s night ended with musical performances from themselves – Emma sang and Del beat the drums!

About Molecey Mill Wedding Venue
The Mill House
Built in 1773 (just 3 years younger than when America declared Independence), it is a Grade II listed property. It even has the only working Poncelet waterwheel in the country (Poncelet a French engineer who worked for Napolean!)
It was lovingly restored in 2017 with its period architecture and exposed stonework. It has spades of Georgian elegance.
Guest Accommodation at Molecey Mill:
Molecey house and the Granary each have 6 double bedrooms, housed on either side of the original mill building and are connected with the mill workings in the centre.
Each bedroom in the Mill house has a unique feel as each room is themed in homage to some of the previous custodians of this amazing home. The rooms in the Granary are a bit more cosy with exposed beams.
One of the highlights of the ground floor is the large sitting room with a ski-lodge feel where you can sit and listen to the stream. It is full of light in the day and cosy by night, making it a great place to get ready for your big day.
As for the kitchen, it has a large range cooker and an American-style fridge freezer, making it suitable for a house full of friends. It also opens up onto a large terrace overlooking the millpond, making a perfect space for breakfast or BBQs.
The site also has a renovated Duck House It is a self-contained double room with a bathroom, separate from the main house which is where newlyweds like to spend the night or have a moment of quiet together during a very intense day. You can even throw open the Juliet windows and sit with the stream under your feet.
