Joyous laughter with a little bit of Lindy Hop- that was Stephen and Lizzie’s Newstead Abbey engagement shoot.
Newstead Abbey features some impeccably kept gardens and grounds and it was once home to Lord Byron, who was, amongst other things, a poet and part of the Romantic movement (thanks Wikipedia). So naturally, this 12th century Augustinian priory leads itself to capturing moments between loved-up couples as they look forward to their wedding day!
But before we entered the grounds, I took Stephen and Lizzie off the beaten track for an adventure through the woods. I loved that the trees still had leaves on them that had all crisped-up over winter and turned orange. We toured through the woods, scaled logs and threw in a bit of dancing into the mix before exploring the Japanese water garden within the Abbey grounds.
At the end of the engagement shoot at Newstead Abbey Lizzie told me she had never had photos like this taken before. She was expecting the shoot to feel staged, but she said it felt really easy with no awkward posing or standing around- that totally made my day because that’s what I am all about! Having a pre-wedding shoot really helps couples feel camera ready before their big day. That is why I offer them with my wedding services. For more on why pre-wedding shoots are a great idea, check out this post (coming soon).
Stephen and Lizzie, thanks for an amazing time and I cannot wait to celebrate with you on your wedding day later this year at the Walled Garden!
